Hi! This is Tim from Tim and Tammy Teach.
I just wanted to say thank you so much (to) everyone who helped raise money to send our young people on a retreat to go white-water rafting in Socorro. We all had a great time! A lot of you helped by purchasing the mp3 files with music that I sold on our site.
Just a quick report here: We had a great time white-water rafting on Friday. We took a bus up to Socorro with about 51 young people from our church.
Then we started out at a park in Socorro, where – before we got in the rafts and went down the rapids – the guides gave us instructions on how to paddle and deal with interesting situations that might show up – and then everyone was fitted with a life jacket and a funny-looking helmet . :) We looked kind of like a bunch of q-tips or something.
It was very fun. Everyone had a blast – and they want to go again someday!
The only little incident that we had was that my wife Lidia and my sister Rachel fell into the water on the most dangerous part of the route –and there were a few seconds of panic in our raft. Rachel was rescued pretty quickly, but Lidia - she ended up going down the falls in her life vest.
But we didn’t want to wreck anyone’s time, so we just tried to keep the worst details from the other rafters - but I think Lidia went rafting two times in one day - her first and her last!
After the rafting, we went to a Baptist church in Socorro for a late lunch and then for a time of singing and a devotional.
Despite the scary incident, we all really did have a very great time. And I thank you once again for your help to take our young people on this trip. It was great! Thank you very much! Bye bye!
